The Future of Walking in Collegiate Golf - A Motocaddy Study

-Modern solution that supports student-athlete wellness, focus, and performance-

As collegiate coaches, athletic departments, conferences and administrators increasingly prioritize student-athlete health and wellness, electric caddies represent a natural evolution in golf. By allowing players to walk without carrying or pushing their bags, water, food, rain gear, and other equipment, electric caddies help reduce physical strain that can affect energy, focus, and recovery while preserving the traditions and integrity of competitive play.

We've witnessed a high usage rate in collegiate competition in the 2026 National Golf Invitational in Maricopa, Arizona earlier this year. When given the opportunity to use an electric caddy for the first time in a collegiate competition, 70% of participants in the 2026 Women’s NGI and 40% of the Men’s NGI student athletes chose to use a Motocaddy M1 DHC vs. carrying their bag or using a standard push cart. The Motocaddy electric caddy M1 DHC model, widely recognized as the world’s simplest-to-use compact-folding model, was used by all electric caddy users at the tournament.

Coaches' & Student-Athletes' Perspective on Electric Caddies

  • "... the electric caddies really supported each player’s physical and mental endurance – especially in the heat when tiredness kicked in. They relieved the enormous stress of carrying a golf bag for three successive rounds and we’d absolutely look to use again if permitted.”
    • Josey  Stender, University of Wyoming, Women’s Golf Head Coach
    • Winners of the 2026 Women's NGI
  • “[Electric caddies] let our players walk freely without stress on their bodies. They also improved the pace of play of my most methodical player.”
    • Michele Drinkard, Mercer U., Women’s Golf Head Coach
  • “Electric caddies helped our players have more energy late in the rounds and on the last day.”
    • Mark Mueller, Grand Canyon U., Men’s Golf Head Coach
    • Winners of the 2026 Men’s NGI
  • “I noticed I saved a lot of energy and it was super easy to learn how to use.”
    • Kaitlin Zingler, Denver Student-Athlete
